Decorating Kids Room For Christmas
Thank you Pier 1 for sponsoring this post. While this was a sponsored opportunity from Pier 1 all content and opinions expressed here are my own. |
This is the first Christmas where my both of my kids really understand Christmas. They're in full on Christmas-mode. They were ready to set up the tree weeks ago. I think they were on the same timeline as most retailers 😉 So keeping that in mind I thought it would be so much fun to decorate their room for Christmas!

For the tree in our living room I usually have a pretty neutral decor. The designer in me loves coordinating colors and patterns. BUT I also adore our kid's handmade ornaments. And believe it or not, I really do think color is fun. So I thought the way to have the best of both worlds is to have a little mini holiday setup in their room.
I wanted to fill their room with color and fun, so I went all out with bright eye-catching colors and rainbow lights and glitter. That's kid-language right there 😉 I also added a mini tree so that we could display the ornaments they make (as soon as they make them). Obviously a mini-tree will only work for so long, but at this point in the game it's perfect.
My inspiration came from this gorgeous, happy wreath. The great combination of colors was so perfect to start with. And of course Pier 1 had tons of ornaments in corresponding colors and styles. Everything I bought came from their Hip Hip Holiday collection. If you take a look you'll see it's full of whimsy with pink elephants and sparkle, super fun.
I decided to keep it relatively simple and just let the colors do the talking. I decorated the bookshelf with glitter-clad reindeer in pink and green, as well as a few nutcracker ornaments in rainbow hues. The mini tree you'll recognize from this post, it decided it wanted to be in the kid's room instead 😉
I used this gorgeous starburst ornament as a tree topper, the scale was perfect! And to light the tree up with rainbow colors, Pier 1's glimmer strings were just the ticket. I used these jewel-shaped blue ones to do double duty as a garland and lights. Then I also added red and green for more color. It looks beautiful at night. And it also acts as a night light!
And for the finishing touch? Colorful cardboard letters that spell "JINGLE". They are probably my favorite piece of all. Aren't they so adorable and fun?
How do you make Christmas fun for your kids? Do you have a few traditions you do every year? I think we have a new tradition over here at the Copy Cat Chic household. Decorating the kid's room with holiday decor is just too fun not to do again 😉
